Hit & Miss is a British television series that premiered in 2012 in six episodes on Sky Atlantic . The series was written by Paul Abbott . Leading actress Chloë Sevigny embodies the transsexual contract killer Mia in the series . After the death of her former partner, Mia learns that she has a biological son of elementary school age and is now responsible for him and his siblings.

Despite very good reviews, success with the audience and licensing to foreign broadcasters, the series was discontinued after a season.

action

The contract killer Mia, who works for a permanent contractor named Eddie to finance her genital reshaping operation . After her former partner dies from cancer, Mia learns that she has a biological son, 11-year-old Ryan. She is now taking on custody of him and his three siblings, who live on a small farm in Yorkshire. Now living in the country but still working for Eddie, Mia has to fulfill the various roles. Furthermore, her landlord John and private problems make life more difficult.

Development and production

Hit & Miss is the station's first in-house production in Great Britain. It is based on two different ideas that Abbott had Sean Conway put together in a script. The main actress Chloë Sevigny was impressed by the script, but was at times unsure whether she could do the role justice and whether a man or a transsexual could play the role better, especially with regard to the acceptance by the LGBT community. Producer Nicola Shindler said it was considered, but ultimately decided on the best actress.

Sevigny noted that the production, especially when compared to the financially well-funded HBO production Big Love , in which she played for several years, was downright " low budget ".

Although the director of Sky Atlantic, Naomi Gibney, stated that the station had made "a conscious investment in British drama", it was still unclear whether the series would continue with a second season until early July 2012. On September 4, 2012 it was announced that there would be no sequel despite the approval by critics and the audience.
