Paul Anton Keller

Paul Anton Keller (born January 11, 1907 in Radkersburg , † October 22, 1976 in Hart bei Graz ) was an Austrian writer . He mainly wrote animal and haunted stories, but also anecdotes and lyrical works .

Life

Keller came from a family of actors. His first book, Liebessonette , was published in 1923. In 1927 he was involved in the Styrian Almanach , and in 1931 the volume of poetry Gesang vor dem Goren der Welt was published.

In 1935 Paul Anton Keller married Margaret (Grete) Hausmann. In 1937 a series of property acquisitions began: Keller acquired the Flamhof, also known as Flamberg Castle, in the Sausal . In 1939 an estate in Petersbergen and a wine-growing business near Leibnitz followed . In the same year, Keller became head of the Nazi Literature Chamber in Graz . During the Nazi era , but also afterwards, he was very productive.

In 1968, after selling the other properties, he and his wife Margaret bought Castle Lockenhaus . After his death, a foundation was set up to keep the castle going.

Awards and honors

In 1955 Keller received the Peter Rosegger Prize , one year later he became an honorary citizen of Kaindorf an der Sulm and in 1957 Professor hc 1971 he was awarded the medal of honor of the Province of Burgenland , the following year he became an honorary citizen of Hart near Graz and in 1975 he received it Medal of honor in gold of the state capital Graz. In Hart bei Graz the Paul-Anton-Keller-Weg is named after him, in Kaindorf an der Sulm and in Feldkirchen bei Graz the Paul-Anton-Keller-Straße.
