Paul Bernardoni (born April 18, 1997 in Paris , France ) is a French soccer goalkeeper who has been a U-21 national player since 2017. Since July 2018 he has been on loan from his actual employer, the French first division club Girondins Bordeaux, to league competitor Olympique Nîmes .

Club career

Youth clubs and ES Troyes AC

Before moving to the then French second division club ES Troyes AC in 2013 , Paul Bernardoni only played for the two smaller French clubs AS Lieusaint and Linas Montlhery in his youth. For the 2014/15 season he was promoted to ESTAC's first team. Bernardoni made his Ligue 2 debut for ES Troyes AC on March 6, 2015 in a 2-0 win over Clermont Foot and at the end of the season Bernardoni and his team rose to Ligue 1 by winning Ligue 2 . He made his league debut in Ligue 1 in the goalless draw against Gazélec FC Ajaccio .

Borrow at Girondins Bordeaux and buy it afterwards

On January 31, 2016 Paul Bernardoni was loaned to league rival Girondins Bordeaux until the end of the season. Under Tainer Willy Sagnol , he made his debut for the Bordeaux team on February 3, 2016 in the 3-0 defeat by Olympique Lyon . After the loan expired, Bernardoni moved permanently to Bordeaux for two and a half million euros.

After Bernardoni played for Bordeaux for a year, he was loaned to Clermont Foot for a year . Another two-year loan to Olympique Nîmes followed in 2018 .

National team career

Paul Bernardoni also played in the junior national teams for France. He played under coach Laurent Guyot in the U-17 national team and under Ludovic Batelli in the U-18 national team . From 2015 to 2017 he played for the French U-19 and U-20 national teams . Bernardoni has been playing for the French U-21s since 2017 .
