Paul Brodek

Paul Brodek (born October 16, 1884 in Krotoschin , † September 5, 1942 in Bremen ) was a German politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the state parliament in Oldenburg.

Life

Brodek began commercial training in Berlin and came to Brake (Unterweser) as a seaman and trade unionist in 1910 , where he later worked as a port and warehouse worker. He took part in the First World War, was wounded in 1917 and then worked in Mülheim an der Ruhr . After his return to Brake he was elected to the Workers 'and Soldiers' Council there. In 1919 he became head of the employment record in Brake, in 1931 director of the Wesermünde - Bremerhaven employment office .

During the Weimar Republic , Brodek was a member of the council and the magistrate of the city of Brake. From 1923 to 1931 he was a member of the Oldenburg State Parliament .

In 1938 Brodek was admitted to a Jewish house in Brake and then moved to Bremen. Following the November pogroms , he was taken into " protective custody " and deported to Sachsenhausen concentration camp . After his release he worked as an unskilled worker in Bremen. In 1941 he was imprisoned again, probably in the " Farge Labor Education Camp ". From there he was released because of his poor health and died soon afterwards on September 5, 1942.

In Brake, a street was named after Paul Brodek.
