Paul Clairmont

Paul Clairmont (born January 10, 1875 in Vienna , † January 1, 1942 in Saint-Prex ) was an Austrian surgeon and university professor in Vienna and Zurich.

Life

Paul Clairmont studied medicine at the University of Vienna and joined the Corps Symposion in 1894. 1898 Dr. med. after receiving his doctorate, he became an assistant at the Serological-Therapeutic Institute. He began his surgical training in 1900 as a trainee doctor with Anton Eiselsberg in Königsberg i. Pr. , With whom he went to Vienna in 1903 as first assistant. In 1908 he completed his habilitation. In 1911 he became adjunct professor . Since 1912 primary physician of the 2nd surgical department at the Rudolf Hospital in Vienna , he took part in the Balkan Wars .

In 1918 he succeeded Ferdinand Sauerbruch at the chair for surgery at the University of Zurich . He retired in 1941 and was succeeded by Alfred Brunner . He was "an adorable teacher, to whom we owe valuable innovations in practical teaching in Zurich" (NDB). Scientifically, he mainly devoted himself to abdominal surgery , transfusion medicine , tuberculosis and X-ray diagnostics . On the cemetery Enzenbühl he found his final resting place.

His son was the archaeologist Christoph W. Clairmont .
