Paul Andrew Dixon (born November 22, 1986 in Aberdeen ) is a Scottish football player who has been under contract with the Scottish second division club FC Falkirk since 2018 .
Career
In the club
Paul Dixon was born in Aberdeen and played for Dundee FC in his youth . He made his professional debut in July 2005 in the Challenge Cup against East Stirlingshire FC . For the traditional Scottish club, which was playing in the second division at the time, he made his league game debut for a week. In January 2006 Dixon was able to achieve the first professional goal of his career in the game against Brechin City . In his first season there were 29 games at the end of the season that he had played in the First Division . In three seasons that he spent as a professional with his youth club, he completed a total of 91 league games. In June 2008, the 21-year-old left-back signed a three-year deal with more ambitious city rivals Dundee United . Under Craig Levein, who made him a national player in his further career, he was quickly established in United's starting XI in the first 2005/06 season . In the following seasons he was still used as a regular player. Even when a new coach was responsible for United in Peter Houston . In 2010 , Dixon and his team won the Scottish Cup final against Ross County . Shortly thereafter, Dixon extended his contract prematurely by another year until 2012. After the contract expired, Dixon moved to England to the local second division club Huddersfield Town . For this he played 37 games in the first two seasons of 2012/13 and 2013/14 before losing his regular place in the first half of the 2014/15 season . He prematurely terminated the contract in Huddersfield and moved back to Dundee United in February 2015. After two years in Dundee, Dixon moved to the English fourth division club Grimsby Town . The contract was terminated in November 2018. Dixon then signed a contract with FC Falkirk .
National team
Paul Dixon played two international matches for the Scottish U-21s against the Czech Republic and the Netherlands in 2007 . In 2012 followed three appearances for the senior national team under coach Craig Levein against Serbia , Macedonia and Luxembourg .
