Thierach is a village in the area of the town of Rödental in the Upper Franconian district of Coburg .

location

The former hamlet is located on the edge of the forest, about nine kilometers east of Coburg , on the northern edge of the Sonnefeld hill country not far from "Einberger Schweiz". A cul-de-sac connects Thierach with the connecting road from Kipfendorf to Blumenrod, which runs not far to the east .

history

The settlement was first mentioned in 1492 as "Tireich". The place name probably goes back to the Middle High German word "tier", which mainly referred to roe deer . Thierach belonged to the Rothenhofer manor.

In 1837 the settlement had 18 inhabitants. On July 21, 1869, Thierach, then with four families and 26 inhabitants, was forcibly incorporated into Kipfendorf. In 1925 the settlement consisted of 19 residents and three residential buildings. The school was in Kipfendorf, 1.7 kilometers away, and the Protestant church in Einberg, 2.6 kilometers away . There are larger clay deposits on the Thierach plain. The clays belonging to the Upper Keuper were opened up in 1930 by the Annawerk with a mine and mined until 1959. In 1950, 14 people lived in three residential buildings in Thierach. In 1970 there were 18 people. On January 1, 1971, Kipfendorf merged with the communities of Einberg, Mönchröden , Oeslau , Rothenhof and Unterwohlsbach to form the unified community of Rödental. Thierach has belonged to Rödental ever since. In 1987 the village consisted of 29 people, 16 residential buildings and 17 apartments. It was subsequently expanded to include a large holiday home area.
