Paul Francis Leibold

Paul Francis Leibold (born December 22, 1914 in Dayton , Ohio , USA , † June 1, 1972 ) was an American clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Cincinnati .

Life

Paul Francis Leibold received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati on May 18, 1940 .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on April 10, 1958 titular bishop of Trebenna and auxiliary bishop in Cincinnati. The Archbishop of Cincinnati, Karl Joseph Alter , donated him the episcopal ordination on June 17 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Columbis , Clarence George Issenmann , and Auxiliary Bishop John Joseph Krol of Cincinnati.

Leibold participated in the first and fourth session of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

On April 4, 1966, Pope Paul VI appointed him . to the Archbishop of Evansville . The inauguration took place on June 15 of the same year. He was named Archbishop of Cincinnati on July 23, 1969, and installed in that office on October 2.
