Paul H. Welte

Paul H. Welte OP , also Heribert Welte , (* as Paul Welte on October 28, 1930 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † February 4, 2017 in Augsburg ) was a German religious and theologian .

Life

Paul Welte grew up in Freiburg im Breisgau . He experienced the bombing raid on Freiburg on November 27, 1944 and helped rebuild the Freiburg Minster . On February 8, 1945, it was buried in an air raid.

After graduating from high school in 1950, Welte joined the Dominican religious order and was ordained a priest after studying theology and philosophy . In 1974 he was at the University of California, Berkeley with a dissertation on The Need for Salvation of Man. Anthropological preliminary questions on soteriology for Dr. theol. PhD .

He taught Catholic theology and systematic theology at Fu-Jen University in Taipei in Taiwan and in the People's Republic of China for over 30 years . Most recently he lived in the Dominican monastery Heilig Kreuz in Augsburg .
