Paul Heermann
Paul Heermann (baptized January 23, 1673 in Weigmannsdorf in the Erzgebirge , † July 22, 1732 in Dresden ) was a German sculptor .
Life
Paul Heermann began an apprenticeship with his uncle, the sculptor George Heermann , at the age of twelve . In 1685 both worked in Troja near Prague . Together they made the stairs of Troy Castle with the figurative decorations. Between 1693 and 1700 Paul Heermann wandered through Italy with a stay in Rome . Around 1700 he was working in Prague again. In 1705 he married in Dresden and was back in Dresden. He became a freelance sculptor with Balthasar Permoser at the Zwinger in Dresden, where he created various sculptures, including the depiction of the Paris judgment on the Wallpavillon . In 1732 he was appointed court sculptor at the Saxon court. He also worked as a wood sculptor and restorer of the ancient world.

- around 1700: Ceres (Demeter) and Diana (Artemis)
- 1703: sandstone figures Hercules (Herakles), Vulcan (Hephaistos) - sign. "P. Heermann fecit ”, Mars (Ares), Neptune (Poseidon), Saturn (Hades), Apollon, Mercury (Hermes) and Prometheus (Okeanus) for the outside staircase at the castle
- 1700–1708: Group of twelve busts to personify the continents, the elements and the times of day: Africa, America, Asia and Europe, earth, fire, air and water, morning, noon, evening and night

- 1716: Shawm blowers at the Kronentor
- 1717: the goddesses Venus , Juno (Hera), Minerva (Pallas Athene) and Paris at the Wallpavillon
- 1718: northern pair of herms
- 1720: Statue of a scholar at the Mathematisch-Physikalische Salon
Works in the city of Dresden:
- 1712: eight medallions at the Palais de Saxe and four busts of Roman emperors at the Palais Beichlingen (British Hotel)
- around 1720: marble busts of the seasons in the Albertinum
- around 1725: two copies of antiquities in front of the palace in the Great Garden ( Seleinus and Telephos as well as Bacchos and Dionysus )

- 1703: Large epitaph of Maximilian von Schellendorf in the main church in Königsbrück
- 1714: Altar of the town church St. Wenzel in Lommatzsch
- 1720–1725: Venus and Amor and Apollon at the Pheasant Castle in Moritzburg
- 1721–1724: Altar of St. Thomas Church in Leipzig (collaboration on Born Altar )
