Paul Heinrich Gnekow (born October 16, 1928 in Marne , Schleswig-Holstein Province , Free State of Prussia , † 2015 ) was a German stone sculptor and writer .

Life

After attending school and doing military service, Gnekow learned the stonemason trade in his father's company, which his grandfather had founded. Then he studied in Wunsiedel with Artur Sansoni and in 1951 acquired the master craftsman's certificate as a stonemason and stone sculptor from the Bayreuth Chamber of Crafts .

Since 1951 he has worked independently in the Marner company and as a freelance sculptor. In 1985 he gave up the business in Marne and since then has worked exclusively as a freelancer, primarily in Lübeck. Since 1998 he has been working in Marne again. The Lübeck Chamber of Crafts awarded him the Golden Master's Certificate.

In 2006 Gnekow received the Dithmarschen District Culture Prize . In the same year he appeared with his poems at the literary days in Elmshorn , most recently he published a collection entitled Poems to be handed over .
