Paul Howard (basketball player)

Paul Howard (born December 24, 1968 ) is a retired American - British basketball player .

Life

Howard's parents were from the Caribbean island of Jamaica .  Born in England , he grew up in Brooklyn , United States, where he lived with his mother while the father stayed in England. Howard played college basketball in the state of Nebraska and then with the Hemel Royals in England in the first half of the 1990s.

In 1996, the 1.95-meter-tall winger moved to the German second division TV Langen , and after a year with the Hessians, further positions in the 2nd basketball division followed (1997/98: BCJ Hamburg , 1998/99: Paderborn ). In the 1999/2000 season he was under contract with the Belgian club Brussels Atomics.

2000/01 he played for the BC Virtus Werkendam in the Netherlands and strengthened BCJ Hamburg again from November 2001, with whom he became champion 2. Bundesliga North. In September 2002 he joined the second division Tübingen .

In the first half of the 2003/04 season he was in the service of the regional league team Itzehoe Eagles and moved to Finland to Äänekosken Huima during the season . For the first division team he scored 11.9 points per match. He returned to Germany for the 2004/05 season, joined the BG Leitershofen / Stadtbergen (Regionalliga), but switched to Akropol BBK in Sweden during the season and reached the semi-finals of the national championship with the team. Howard then moved to Ehingen in the 2nd Bundesliga, where he played at the beginning of the 2005/06 season, went to the Glasgow Rocks in the British Basketball League in the 2005/06 season and in December 2005 to 1. FC Kaiserslautern (2nd Bundesliga ).

The next stop in Howard's career as a professional basketball player was the ASC Theresianum Mainz , which he initially strengthened in the 2006/07 second division season. After a short time they split up, in February 2007 he joined VfL Kirchheim , for whom he was still on the field at the age of 40 in 2008/09 in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA .
