Paul JJ Welfens

Paul JJ Welfens (born January 29, 1957 in Düren ) is a German economist and professor of macroeconomic theory .

Life

Welfens studied economics in Wuppertal and Duisburg with stays abroad at UC Berkeley and the University of Paris-Dauphine . He received his doctorate from the University of Duisburg in 1985; In 1989 the habilitation followed . After a research stay at Johns Hopkins University , Welfens was professor at the Universities of Münster and Potsdam . Since 2004, Welfens has held the chair for economics with a focus on macroeconomic theory and politics at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal, as well as being a Jean Monnet professor for European integration. In 2007 he accepted a visiting professorship at the Paris elite university, Institut d'études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po). In the same year he was the first German to receive the silver medal of the International Kondratieff Foundation . Welfens is the founder and president of the European Institute for International Economic Relations (EIIW) at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal .
