Paul Jappe attended in Brooklyn , the High School and studied from 1921 to 1923 at Syracuse University . He also played American football there and was honored for all three years by his college for his athletic achievements. In 1925, Jappe signed a professional contract with the New York Giants and joined the Brooklyn Lions a year later . In 1927 he returned to the Giants, who have now secured the services of well-known players such as Steve Owen or Pete Henry . This season, Jappe won the NFL championship with his team . The Giants had won 11 of their 13 games. After another year of play with the team from New York City , Jappe ended his career. According to Wellington Mara , the later owner of the Giants, it was, among other things, the physical effort of Jappe that motivated him as a child to stay in football and to become the successor of his father Tim Mara as the owner of the Giants.
