Wellington Timothy Mara (* 14. August 1916 in New York City , New York ; † 25. October 2005 in Rye , New York) was an American American football -Funktionär. From 1959 until his death, he was a co-owner of the New York Giants in the National Football League (NFL).

The Giants were founded in 1925 by Tim Mara , father of Wellington Mara. He started his career in 1937 as assistant to the club's president at the time , after having been granted joint ownership of the Giants in 1930 at the age of 14. He was president of the NFL club from 1965 until his death. Mara played a major role in ensuring that TV revenue in the NFL has been distributed to the entire league since the 1960s and thus equal opportunities for the teams is achieved in this regard. In 1997 he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame . After his death, his eldest son, John Mara, became president of the Giants. The Giants have been honoring him on the since 2010New York Giants Ring of Honor .
