Paul Katow

Paul Katow (born December 18, 1949 in Differdange , Luxembourg , † July 23, 2008 in Luxembourg) was a Luxembourg author .

Life

Katow grew up first in the Oberkorn district , from 1956 in Niederkorn in a working class environment . He completed his secondary studies in Esch-sur-Alzette , later studied journalism in Brussels and graduated from the Université Libre de Bruxelles in 1973 . His career path initially took him to Baarn ( Holland ) for two years (1973–1975) , where he worked at Philips as a text editor for records for classical music. In 1975 he moved back to Luxembourg and served the CLT for seventeen years (1976-1993) before moving to regional broadcaster DNR for two years. From October 1995 to 1999 he was editor-in-chief at the socio-cultural radio 100.7. From 1999 to 2006 he worked for the “ Luxemburger Wort ” (La Voix).

Among other things, Paul Katow published two books on RTL Edition: the monograph Louis Spohr - Personality and Work (1983) about an early romantic composer who has experienced a spectacular renaissance on CD for several years, as well as the volume Overdriven Dogs (1984) with three longer ones Stories. Since the revival of the “Cahiers Luxembourgeois” in 1988, Paul Katow has been a regular employee there, with stories and articles about Anne Frank or musical topics ( Dmitri Shostakovich , Eduard Tubin , Robert Schumann and others). Paul Katow also published numerous music articles in the “ Lëtzebuerger Land ” and “Luxemburger Wort”.

On July 22, 2008, he was called for a wanted man. In the early morning of July 23, 2008, he was found dead by the police. Paul Katow left a wife and two children.
