Paul Kläui

Paul Kläui (born November 9, 1908 in Berg am Irchel , † July 18, 1964 in Zurich ) was a Swiss historian and long-time president of the Antiquarian Society in Zurich.

Live and act

Kläui's specialist focus was the Zurich Middle Ages . Initially he edited various source works. In addition, there were community histories or parts of such ( Obfelden , Horgen , Pfäffikon and Uster ). For those interested in history, he also created a guide to local historical research.

In 1948 he qualified as a professor for medieval history at the University of Zurich . In 1962 he was appointed assistant professor for Zurich history. In the half-office he also worked as a monument conservator for the city of Zurich. He was also the President of the Antiquarian Society in Zurich.

After his early death in 1964, Dr. Paul Reimann opened his scientific library in Uster. He laid the foundation stone for the Paul Kläui library through a donation to the community of Uster . His brother Hans Kläui (1906–1992), historian and frontist , used his academic legacy for numerous publications on local history.
