Paul Torday

Paul Torday (born August 1, 1946 in Croxdale , County Durham , † December 18, 2013 ) was a British writer . He became famous for his debut novel Salmon Fishing in Yemen .

Life

Paul Torday studied English literature at Pembroke College , Oxford . He worked as an engineering entrepreneur for over thirty years before fulfilling a long-held dream - to write. His novel Salmon Fishing in Yemen was made into a film by Lasse Hallström in 2011 .

Paul Torday had two sons in 1974 and 1976 and lived with his family in a small castle near the North Tyne River .
