Paul Weber (clergyman)

Paul Weber (born December 22, 1881 in Canth , Lower Silesia ; † January 10, 1963 in Berlin ) was a Catholic priest and provost of St. Hedwig in Berlin.

Life

After studying philosophy and Catholic theology in Breslau, Paul Weber received the sacrament of ordination on June 23, 1906 and was subsequently chaplain at the Berlin Sacred Heart Church . From 1913 he was pastor of the Holy Family parish in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg .

Effective January 1, 1931, Weber was appointed to the cathedral chapter of the Hedwig Church, which was elevated to the status of the cathedral of the newly founded diocese of Berlin . At the same time he took over the school department as a full professor . Pope Pius XII awarded him the title of Papal House Prelate on April 29, 1939 . On November 18, 1953, Bishop Wilhelm Weskamm appointed Paul Weber provost of the cathedral. He held this office until his death.

Paul Weber's grave is in the St. Hedwig Cathedral Cemetery in Berlin-Reinickendorf . Weber was a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Bavaria Berlin.
