At the same time Weber was meanwhile also the 1st chairman of the provincial parliament of the province of Saxony. In 1930 he was finally appointed district president of Magdeburg. As a result of the Prussian strike , Weber was removed from his position in 1932. Defamed as a “party clerk”, he was exposed to various persecutions and humiliations during the Nazi era . During the time of the Soviet occupation zone and the GDR , Weber was isolated because he had been a leading “right-wing” Social Democratic elector and holder of high state and administrative offices during the Weimar Republic .

His hometown Halberstadt made him an honorary citizen on September 10, 1948 because of his great services as Lord Mayor from 1920 to 1930 . This is also due to the relatively strong position of the Social Democrats in Halberstadt at the time.
