Paul Karl Frommhold Theophil von Bistram (born December 9, 1861 in Mitau , † June 1, 1931 in Rostock ) was a Baltic baron and district marshal in the Duchy of Courland and Semgallia .

Life

He attended the Pforta State School in Saxony-Anhalt from 1875 to 1879 and the Gouvernements-Gymnasium in Mitau until 1880 . He then studied from 1881 to 1885 at the University of Dorpat and graduated as a lawyer . He was then for two years assessor at the Doblen district court in Mitau and was tenant of Irmlau in the Duchy of Courland and Semgallia from 1888 to 1908 . In 1903 the Courland Knighthood elected him economic director of the Courland Knightly Goods. From 1905 to 1920 he was the majority owner of the Waddax estateand held the office of honorary peace judge from 1906 to 1914 , was vice-president of the Mitau branch of the Association of Germans in Courland and resident district marshal . In 1919 he was deputy country representative and member of the Baltic National Committee and secular assessor in the Courland Consistory . In 1919 he emigrated to Rostock and died there on June 1, 1931.

Origin and family

Paul von Bistram came from the house of Sehnjen, Nowidwor and Daudzogir of the Baltic noble family of Bistram . His parents were the district marshal and Lord of Waddax Adolph von Bistram (1822–1865) and Clothilde Countess Belzig von Kreutz (1825–1906). Paul v. B. married Baroness Martha von Bistram in 1888 . Her descendants were:
