Paule in Concert is a documentary film of the DEFA studios for documentary films by Lew Hohmann from the year 1984 .

action

In one of the workshops of the Berlin machine tool factory “7. October “ is the training workshop for the metalworking professions. One day in May 1983 a stage with props was set up at one end of the hall , after which the group Pankow played their rock spectacular Paule Panke . The play tells how an apprentice spends his week until he finally reaches the weekend.

Between the titles presented, film recordings of the young people's real training routine are shown together with their trainers. The girl Andrea and five boys belong to a group who are learning to be a mechanical engineer and at the same time can pass the Abitur . Outside the workshop, in a green part of the city, on a bench with a view of the new buildings in Berlin, they talk in a relaxed way about how they have shaped their lives up to now, about their relationships with their parents and what they would like to achieve in the future.

Two of the boys would like to become officers after completing their apprenticeship, one with the border troops of the GDR and the other with the NVA . Someone wants to work as a fitter after their apprenticeship because it is much more varied than the profession they have learned. A boy wants to be completely normal at the age of 30 and show as much courage and verve as John Lennon by the age of 40 . Andrea still wants to do a lot at that age, be married and happy, and visit abroad. They talk about their academic achievements and other things that interest them.
