Christina Paulhofer
Christina Paulhofer (born April 4, 1969 in Bucharest ) is a German director.
Life
Christina Paulhofer fled Romania with her mother in 1975 . Her father Peter Paulhofer, an actor of German descent famous in Romania. was left alone in Bucharest . After his wife and daughter had fled, he was banned from working there.
Christina Paulhofer grew up in Röthenbach an der Pegnitz and after graduating from high school, she first studied German and art history before studying film directing in Paris . While still a student at the Paris Film Academy, she directed Blick zurück im Zorn von John Osborne at the Schauspielhaus Bochum in 1996 . She remained closely connected to the Bochum theater in the following years and brought a. a. the pieces Roberto Zucco by Bernard-Marie Koltès and Big and Small by Botho Strauss on the boards. The successful productions in Bochum then brought them to other renowned theaters. At the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg she staged the world premiere of the play Täter by Thomas Jonigk . Another world premiere was the play Klara's Relationships by Dea Loher at the Vienna Burgtheater . At the Schauspielhaus Zürich she staged the play Rave by Rainald Goetz and at the Akademietheater of the Burgtheater Spring Awakening by Frank Wedekind . The Münchner Kammerspiele was the premiere location for the play Salinger von Koltès. She staged her first great classic with Macbeth by William Shakespeare in 2002 at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz in Berlin. At the Schaubühne she also staged Phaidras Liebe by Sarah Kane and the Duchess of Malfi by John Webster . In 2013 she staged a version of Liliom at the Schauspielhaus Bochum, which was enthusiastically received by the audience and the press - with a combination of street art , bumper cars and stage machinery. She staged the world premiere of Oliver Schmaering's Big Republic in 2015 at the Rampe Theater in Stuttgart. After many years in Paris, she now lives in Berlin.
