Paulinchen - Initiative for burn injured children is a non-profit association founded in Norderstedt in 1993 , which sees itself as a nationwide initiative for burn injured children and young people. The name of the club goes back to the Struwwelpeter figure Pauline, who burned to death because she played with matches. The nationwide association has over 1000 members.

activity

With prevention campaigns and lectures, the association aims to provide information about the risks and causes of accidents in everyday life, such as denatured alcohol when barbecuing, advise their families after burns or scalding accidents in children and help with problems during the rehabilitation period . The association answers around 5,000 inquiries each year and arranges contacts for those affected with specialist clinics, psychologists, doctors, therapists and medical supply stores. In addition, once a year it offers the Paulinchen seminar with trauma counseling , information and parenting counseling for 25 families and their burned children. Paulinchen also organizes self-help groups and publishes the magazine "Paulinchen" as well as information and advice brochures on an irregular basis.

Awards

In 2013, the Paulinchen brochure “Alex - Dein Ratgeber” was awarded the bronze “Graphic Fine Arts” prize by the German Designer Club and the “ Red Dot Communication Design Award ”.

In the innovation competition “365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas ” in 2011, the association initiated “Day of Burned Children” (7 December every year).

The deputy chairwoman, Anneliese Stapelfeldt, was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2011 .

In 2009 the chairwoman of the association Adelheid Gottwald received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon .
