Paulinzella Forest
The Paulinzellaer Forst is a forest area in the foreland of the Thuringian Forest or the Thuringian Slate Mountains .

It is located around the Paulinzella monastery , which it used to own. Its east-west extension is about ten, the north-south extension about six kilometers and the area about 50 km².
Most of the forest belongs to the city of Königsee , and smaller parts to other cities and communities.

The small villages Paulinzella , Milbitz and Horba are located in the forest .

The Paulinzellaer Forst is a mixed pine forest on dry, sandy soil. Geologically it is part of the Paulinzella red sandstone country . It is drained by the Rottenbach , which cuts through the forest.

In its valley, the Rottenbach – Stadtilm state road and the Arnstadt – Saalfeld railway line cross the Paulinzella Forest.
