Nešťák began his professional career at HC Opava and after only one season dared the leap overseas, where he was number two behind Matt Eisler in the East Coast Hockey League with the Johnstown Chiefs . However, the team missed the playoffs due to poor team performance. In the following season he switched between three teams in the minor leagues, but could not prevail anywhere and then returned to his home country. In the summer of 2001 he signed a contract with the Austrian first division club EHC Linz and impressed from the start with outstanding performances. He also quickly became one of the most popular players among the fans. In the 2002/03 season he managed to win the Austrian championship title with the Linzers . In the years that followed, however, his performance deteriorated continuously until the team no longer extended his contract in 2006.
Nešťák then moved back to the Czech Republic and hired at HK 36 Skalica , but was dismissed after only ten games due to poor performance. At this time, the Graz 99ers were looking for a successor to Steve Passmore and brought Nešťák on board, but he too could not change the season that had been extremely bad for the 99ers and was finally replaced by Walter Bartholomäus . Nešťák then signed a contract with VSK Technika Brno and played for the team from 2007 to 2009 in the second and third highest division in the Czech Republic. Then he ended his career.
