Pawel Wladimirowitsch Perwuschin ( Russian Павел Владимирович Первушин , scientific transliteration Pavel Vladimirovič Pervušin ; * 1947 ) is a former Soviet weightlifter.

Career

Pavel Pervushin grew up in a small town near Volgograd . As a teenager he was mainly active in athletics . At the age of 16 his older brother Nikolai introduced him to weightlifting , which he practiced from then on with a lot of diligence and perseverance. The first successes soon followed at the regional level.

At the age of 19, Pervuschin joined the Soviet Army and was stationed in Leningrad . There he found a competent trainer in Fyodor Bogdanowski , the 1960 Olympic middleweight champion. In March 1967 he already managed 445 kg in the Olympic three-way fight and finished eighth in the Soviet junior championships of the same year. He was a little disappointed with this result, but continued to train intensively and already exceeded the 500 kg heavyweight limit in 1970 (up to 110 kg body weight at that time).

1973 was his best year. As an excellent technician in snatching and pushing, he benefited from the abolition of pushing and this year became Soviet, European and world champion in a duel, where he was the first heavyweight in the world to reach the 400 kg limit in a duel at the European Championships in Madrid. In 1974 and 1975 a protracted hand injury prevented further starts.

In 1976 he tried a comeback. Although he achieved a good result at the Soviet championships with 387.5 kg in a duel, but was not nominated for the Olympic Games in Montreal . He then ended his sporting career disappointed.
