history

The Paysandu Sport Club was founded in 1914. Since its inception, the club has played in the Pará National Championship ( Campeonato Paraense ), where it won its first title in its sixth year, in 1920. This title win has been followed by 45 more victories in this competition, with which the club holds the title record today. Last won the championship of Paysandu Pará 2016. plays in league play Paysandu SC in the third Brazilian league, the Série C . Once, however, the club from Belém , the capital of the state of Pará, even took part in the Série A , the top division in Brazilian football. For the first time, Paysandu was able to move up to Série A in 1991 after taking first place in Série B the previous year. However, in the first division season in 1992, relegation immediately followed as bottom of the table. It took nine years before the club made another leap into the top class. This time they survived the first season and finished twentieth in the table, while traditional teams such as SE Palmeiras and Botafogo FR had to move into the second division.

In the following season Paysandu SC reached the third from bottom of the table, but was spared relegation, as only two teams had to relegate. In the first division season 2004 you could occupy the 14th place in the table, which meant that Paysandu SC had held the class again. The following year, however, the club was penultimate and was relegated to the B series. There they were only seventeenth again, so that they were relegated to the third class Série C, where they played until 2012. In the 2012 season, the club finished fourth in Group A and qualified for the play-offs. There you reached the semi-finals and thus rose, only to fall again in 2013 and rise again in 2014.

Stadion

Paysandu SC plays most of its home games at the Estádio da Curuzú , which can seat 12,000 spectators. When the club played in Série A, they used the larger Estádio Olímpico do Pará , also called Mangueirão , as a venue for home games. Since the crowd in Série C is not as large as in Série A, most home games take place in the smaller stadium. For games with a high number of spectators, for example the derbies against local rivals Clube do Remo , the club will move to the Estádio Olímpico do Pará, which has a capacity of 45,500.
