The bad luck ( Pashtun پېچ سيند) is a right tributary of the Kunar in the east of Afghanistan .
The bad luck originates in the Hindu Kush on the northern provincial border of Nuristan . It begins its run in a mountain lake at 4476 m . It flows mainly in a south-easterly direction through the mountains in the central part of Nuristan. About 30 km before the estuary, the Waygal meets the pitch from the left. There is the village of Nangalam . In the lower reaches of the river Pech flows in an easterly direction through the Kunar Province and finally flows into the Kunar River on the right in Asadabad , the provincial capital of Kunar. The pitch has a length of about 120 km. It drains an area of 3855 km². The mean discharge not far from the mouth is 58.7 m³ / s. In Asadabad there is a small hydropower plant (2 × 350 kW) on the right bank of the river, which was built with German support and has been in operation since 1983. However, only one unit is in use.
In the Pech River Valley, Pashtun and Ashkun are spoken. The Safi tribe of the Pashtuns make up the majority of the population in the region.
