Pedro "Pete" Pangelinan Tenorio (born April 18, 1934 in Saipan ; † May 21, 2018 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1982 and 1990 and again from 1998 to 2002 he was governor of the Northern Mariana Islands .

Career

Pedro Tenorio attended George Washington High School in Guam and then studied at the University of Guam there . He then worked, among other things, as a teacher, in dispatch and as the head of a technical marine training unit. At the same time he embarked on a political career. He became a member of the Congress of Micronesia and later in the Senate of the Northern Mariana Islands , of which he was temporarily vice-president. In 1980 he became President of this Chamber. He became a member of the Republican Party .

In 1981 he was elected second governor of the Northern Mariana Islands to succeed Carlos S. Camacho . After a re-election, he was able to hold this office between January 11, 1982 and January 8, 1990. In 1997 he was re-elected to this office, which he held again between January 12, 1998 and January 14, 2002. In 1998 he succeeded Froilan Tenorio .

After the end of his time as governor, Pedro Tenorio no longer appeared politically.
