Peer Wyboris
Peer Wyboris (born November 4, 1937 in Brandis near Leipzig , † August 22, 2008 in Barcelona ) was a German jazz musician ( drums ) who worked mainly in Spain.
Wyboris, who initially traveled around the Mediterranean with bands to support troops between 1956 and 1961, was a resident musician at the Whiskey & Jazz jazz club in Madrid's Calle del Marqués de Villamagna for many years . From the mid-1960s he worked with the pianist Tete Montoliu , with whom he made his first recordings in 1966 ( Tete Montoliu presenta Elia Fleta ). He was also a member of Pedro Iturralde's quintet ( Jazz Flamenco ), with whom he toured internationally (including the Berlin Jazz Days 1967). He also played with Lou Bennett and Juan Carlos Calderon . From the 1970s to the 1990s he continued to belong to the Trio Montolius; In 1989 recordings were made with Charlie Mariano and Tete Montoliu ( It's Standard Time ). He also played in Spain and Italy with Lucky Thompson , Slide Hampton / Dusko Goykovich , Frank Strazzeri , Bill Perkins and Claude Williamson. In the 2000s he still worked in Barcelona with Pere Ferré , José Luis Canal and Iñaki Sandoval . After Tom Lord, he was involved in 35 recording sessions from 1966 to 2005.
