Pekka Juhani Tuomisto (born December 29, 1960 in Oulu ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player .

Career

Pekka Tuomisto began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Kärpät Oulu , for whose professional team he made his debut in the SM-liiga , the top Finnish league, in the 1980/81 season . With Kärpät he immediately became Finnish champion in his rookie year . At Kärpät, the winger spent another six years before moving to HIFK Helsinki for the 1987/88 season within the SM-liiga . At HIFK he ended his career at the age of 35 after the 1995/96 season .

In 2000 Tuomisto was honored with the entry into the Finnish Ice Hockey Hall of Fame .

International

For Finland , Tuomisto took part in the junior division exclusively in the U20 World Junior Championship in 1980 . In the senior sector, he was in Senes’s squad at the 1991 and 1992 World Championships as well as at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary and 1992 in Albertville . At the 1988 Winter Games and the 1992 World Cup, he won the silver medal with Finland.
