Pelargonium Ceratophyllum is a plant of the genus Pelargonium ( Pelargonium ) within the family of geraniaceae (Geraniaceae). It is native to Namibia and South Africa.

Vegetative characteristics
Pelargonium ceratophyllum grows as a deciduous, irregularly branched, succulent subshrub and reaches heights of up to 20 centimeters. The shoot axes are relatively thin. The pinnately to doubly pinnate, succulent leaves , the segments of which are rounded, fall off in summer.
Generative characteristics
The partial inflorescences contain one to three flowers. The hermaphrodite flowers are zygomorphic and five-fold with a double flower envelope . The five petals are white, yellowish or pink in color. The two upper petals are narrowly elliptical to narrowly ovate in shape, eyed at the base and suddenly bent back more than 90 °; at the base they have a fine, feather-like purple marking. The lower three petals are narrowly elliptical to egg-shaped and taper sharply to the base; they are less strongly bent back and seldom tinted pink at the base. There are five fertile stamens of equal length . The pollen is orange in color.
Chromosome number
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 22.
Occurrence and endangerment
The range of Pelargonium ceratophyllum is in the coastal areas of Namibia and the South African province of Northern Cape .
Pelargonium ceratophyllum is rated in the Red List of Endangered Plant Species in South Africa in a survey in 2005 as “Least Concern” = “not endangered”.
Systematics
It was first described as Pelargonium ceratophyllum in 1789 by Charles Louis L'Héritier de Brutelle . The species Pelargonium ceratophyllum belongs to the section Otidia (Sweet) G. Don in the genus Pelargonium . A synonym for Pelargonium ceratophyllum L'Hér. is Pelargonium dasycaule Haworth .
