People -

People is the eighth studio album by New York art rock band Skeletons . It was released on April 26, 2011.

background

On “People”, band leader Matthew Mehlan processes the surreal aspects of real events; For example, "Tania Head" is about the woman of the same name who pretended to have survived the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 in the World Trade Center and thus achieved too short fame. "Walmart and the Ghost of Jimm" is about a man who died at the traditional Black Friday sale in a Wal-Mart store.

Style and reception

The stylistic diversity typical of Skeletons is also present on this album, it ranges from guitar feedback ("Barack Obama Blues") to Pink Floyd influences ("Tania Head"). In the band's work so far, “People” is still the most accessible work. Andreas Hofmann wrote on the baby blue pages :

“The all too irritating moments of the other albums are missing on“ People ”or seem pleasantly defused without the still somehow strangely nested songs losing their sharpness. This time Mehlan mainly tells (true!) Stories and manages to relax even the crudest compositions. "

June 22, 2011, accessed on June 24, 2011 : “Although Skeleton $ can make music very experimentally from time to time, it is never a mere noise that comes from the loudspeakers. On the contrary, it is often melodic and catchy, the melody of the piece "Tania Head", for example, lets the experienced music lover indulge in memories of Pink Floyd's " Fearless ", which sounds damned similar to this piece .
