Pere Vallribera i Moliné

Pere Vallribera i Moliné (born January 27, 1903 in Sallent de Llobregat , † March 7, 1990 in Barcelona ) was a Catalan pianist , composer and music teacher .

life and work

Pere Vallribera studied first with V. Pastallé in Sallent, then with Josep Barberà and Guillem Garganta in Barcelona. He then completed in-depth studies with Isidore Philipp in Paris.

From 1932 he was president of the Institut d'Estudis Musicals . In the same year he was appointed professor at the Conservatori del Liceu . He headed this institution for almost thirty years after the Spanish Civil War . Before the Spanish Civil War he was an orchestral soloist with the Banda Municipal de Barcelona and the Orquestra Pau Casals .

In addition to his teaching activities, he built up a career as a soloist and was mainly active in the field of chamber music. He made recordings with Concepció Supervia , Emili Vendrell , Henri Lewkowicz and Concepció Badia . He has performed in ensembles and with Catalan and international soloists such as Gaspar Cassadó , Pierre Fournier , Josep Trotta , Ernst Xancó , Francesc Costa , Gerard Claret and Lluís Claret and the Anglo-Polish violinist Ida Haendel .

He composed sardanas , choral songs, goigs (songs of praise) and chamber music. He published the Manual de ejecución pianística y expresión ("Manual for piano performances and expression"). He was a member of the Acadèmia de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi .
