Pereskiopsis kellermanii is a species of plant in the genus Pereskiopsis from the cactus family(Cactaceae). A common Spanish name is "Cola Lagarto".

Pereskiopsis kellermanii has a shrubby growth, is leaning to climbing and reaches heights of 4 to 5 meters. The side branches branch out at right angles to the main branches. The weak and herbaceous, bare shoots are initially green and become darker with age. They reach a diameter of up to 2 centimeters. The obovate to lanceolate or elliptical leaf blade , the bright green and bare leaves are significantly longer than wide. It is 2.5 to 5 inches long and 2 to 2.5 inches wide. The circular areoles are covered with white hairs and abundant reddish glochids up to 4 millimeters long . The one to three, strong, black, graying thorns with age , which are sometimes missing and usually more numerous on the trunk, are 1 to 4 centimeters long.
The yellow flowers reach a diameter of 4.5 to 5.6 centimeters and are 4 to 6 centimeters long. Your pericarpel is covered with glochids, but has no thorns. The bare, top-shaped, yellow fruits turn red. They are 2.5 to 6 inches long and reach a diameter of 0.8 to 1.8 inches.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Pereskiopsis kellermanii is distributed in the Mexican states of Campeche , Chiapas , Morelos , Oaxaca , Veracruz and Yucatán as well as Guatemala up to an altitude of 1250 meters. The first description was in 1907 by Joseph Nelson Rose .
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered. The development of the populations is considered stable.
