Perillula reptans is the only species of the plant genus Perillula . It is within the family of the mint (Lamiaceae) in the subfamily Nepetoideae and there in the tribe filed Elsholtzieae. The homeland of Perillula reptans is in Japan .
description
Perillula reptans is a perennial herbaceous plant that forms a short rhizome as a perennial organ. The leaves are deeply serrated.
The terminal, zymous inflorescences usually consist of three, rarely only one or two flowers and bracts . The small, zygomorphic flowers stand on long flower stalks . The calyx is bell-shaped-funnel-shaped, the rear calyx lobes are broadly pointed, the front calyx lobes are somewhat longer. The calyx tube is marked in a ring a little below the calyx throat, the base is slightly arched when the fruit is ripe. The crown is colored white and broadly bell-shaped with five crown lobes, which form two indistinct lips. The corolla tube is slightly narrowed and marked in a ring on the inside.
The four stamens occur in two pairs of different lengths and are inclined apart. The front pair is slightly longer and protrudes slightly over the corolla tube, the rear pair is completely inside the corolla tube. The theka of the anthers stand individually and have only a small connective, they are more or less parallel or are only slightly inclined apart. The pen and the stigma lobes are short.
The Klausenfrucht consists of four partial fruits, which are broadly inverted ovoid and provided with a smooth surface.
Occurrence
Perillula reptans occurs exclusively in Japan from central and southern Japan to the Nansei Islands and is found there in forests near rivers.
