Perry Green (* 1936 in Seattle , Washington ) is a professional American poker player . He is three-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker and is nicknamed Alaska's Poker Guru .

Poker career

Career

Green has been taking part in prestigious live tournaments since 1976 .

In early May 1976, Green was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas and won a tournament of the Limit Ace to Five Draw variant . In return, he prevailed over 79 other players and received a prize of 68,300 US dollars and a bracelet . The following year he won an event of the WSOP 1977 in the same variant and secured his second bracelet . Green won his third WSOP tournament in mid-May 1979 in the No Limit Hold'em variant , for which he received $ 76,500. In February 1980 and 1981 he was runner- up in the Superbowl Of Poker at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, earning him more than $ 140,000 in prize money. He finished second in the main event at the 1981 WSOP and received the highest cash prize of his poker career of $ 150,000. Also in 1991 he sat at the final table of the WSOP main event and finished fifth for just under 70,000 US dollars. Since then, there have been no major poker successes.

Overall, Green has earned over a million US dollars with poker in live tournaments.
