Perschen (2011)

history

Perschen was first mentioned in a document in 1122 and was the capital between Nabburg and Pfreimd , both of which belonged to the parish of Perschen. In 1216 Pfreimd was raised to an independent parish and the parish Perschen was moved to Nabburg around 1420. The residents of Pershen were and are buried in the cemetery around the church , which has recently been enlarged. Since the cemetery is surrounded by a defensive wall that is only partially preserved, it is reasonable to assume that it was originally used as a fortified church . Perschen was incorporated into Nabburg.

church

Parish Church of Saints Peter and Paul

The church consecrated to the apostles Peter and Paul was the property of the episcopate; around 1160, Bishop Hartwich left them with their income to the Regensburg Cathedral Chapter .

The current church dates from the first half of the 13th century. The sacristy was added in the 14th century. The connection between the towers also comes from a later period.

In 1752/1753 the wooden ceiling was replaced by the still existing vault and the church was furnished in a baroque style. It was renovated in 1880 and the Gothic frescoes in the choir were restored in 1904. Another thorough renovation of the church took place in 2000.

Furnishing

The round baptismal font with quatrefoil frieze and pointed arches has been preserved from the original church of the 13th century. Gothic frescoes and wall paintings can be found throughout the church building . The pulpit and the figures of saints date from the 17th century. In 1753 the painter Johann Franz Lidtmann from Nabburg created a series of baroque ceiling paintings in the central nave, which show the following motifs (from east to west):

  • Holy Trinity surrounded by the apostles and other saints
  • Christ gives Peter the keys of the kingdom of heaven
  • Crucifixion of Peter
  • Conversion of Paul
  • Beheading of Paul
  • Christ, whose drops of blood fall into purgatory, on the cross

The high altar dates from the renovation in 1880.

Tombstones

  • Tomb , 14th century, with cross and shield on clover leaf arch
  • Gravestone , around 1500, with the outline of a woman, two coats of arms at her feet
  • Epitaph from 1602 for a child, son of a family from Nabburg

Cemetery chapel

The rotunda, which dates from the 12th century, houses the space for the dead bones removed from the graves in the basement. After the school building was demolished, the bones were removed from the Karner and buried there in a collective grave, but without identification. The painting in the round interior of the chapel dedicated to St. Michael comes from the time it was built. The interior walls were originally all painted, but the paintings in the dome have been preserved. The people depicted there, certainly the apostles, are half life-size , Christ is depicted life-size.

Noble court

This is a farm that is said to have originally been a noble farm and later the rectory. It dates from 1605. Since 1964 it has served as the Upper Palatinate Farmers Museum. This was first opened on a club basis and was taken over in 1977 by the Upper Palatinate District, which then built the Neusath Open Air Museum . When both were placed under administration, they were given the name Oberpfälzer Freilandmuseum Neusath-Perschen , later Freilandmuseum Oberpfalz .
