In 1811 there were 58 tax districts in the Nabburg Regional Court, one of which was Girnitz. In addition to Girnitz itself, Eckendorf with Kumpfmühle and Höflarn with Bärnmühle belonged to the Girnitz tax district. In addition, Girnitz was part of the Diendorf chairmanship.

In 1828 Girnitz belonged with 8 residential buildings, 8 families and 56 inhabitants to the rural community of Diendorf, to the branch church in Perschen and to the Catholic school in Perschen. All residents were Catholic.

On March 23, 1913 (Easter), Girnitz belonged to the parish of Schwarzach. It had 9 houses and 72 residents. 1964 Girnitz had 9 residential buildings and 49 inhabitants and belonged to the rural community of Diendorf and the district of Nabburg . On July 1, 1972, the district of Nabburg was dissolved and Girnitz came as part of the community of Diendorf in the newly formed district of Schwandorf. On January 1, 1975, Girnitz was incorporated into the city of Nabburg as part of the municipality of Diendorf.
