Persoonia linearis is a shrub or small tree from the silver tree familythat is found in heaths and forests on the coast of southern and eastern Australia .
Distribution and habitat
Persoonia linearis is widespread and grows predominantly on sandy or stony soils, heaths and open forests in the coastal regions and tabular countries of Queensland , New South Wales and Victoria in Australia .
Appearance
Persoonia linearis can reach heights of growth of up to 2 meters both as a large shrub and as a small tree . The reddish or dark brown bark is very loose and easily peeled off, the red bark of the young twigs is covered with fine, white hairs. Mainly at the ends of the drooping branches are alternate leaves . The leaves are lanceolate to linear, 2 to 8 centimeters long and 2 to 4 millimeters wide, almost without a petiole and covered with fine hairs.
Persoonia linearis flowers in summer. The 12 millimeter long flowers are solitary or in the leaf axils . The four yellow bracts are fused tubular with four outwardly rolled tips, have a thickened base and are covered on the outside by fine hair. Four stamens with brown stripes, also rolled outwards, protrude from the tube. Persoonia linearis forms green, fleshy, spherical drupes that are usually darkly striped and reach a diameter of 1 centimeter.
