Persuader ( English for “seducer”; persuader) is a power metal band from Umeå , Sweden .
biography
After the first demo recording was completed in 1998 , Persuader got a recording contract with the music label "Loud 'n' Proud Records", so that in spring 2001 the first studio album "The Hunter" could be released. The reviews of the debut were mostly positive, in scene magazines the band was sometimes even referred to as the best newcomer of 2000. The success was marred by the bankruptcy of the label, whereby the album could only be released nationwide in France. In addition, personal differences arose in the band, so that the guitarist at the time, Pekka Kiviaho, was dismissed and replaced by Emil Nordberg.
After a few initial difficulties, the new line-up took part in the “Metal Gods Competition” which was organized by the “Noise International” label. At the finals in Bochum, the band won first place and thus a record deal. Shortly afterwards - in 2004 - the second studio album "Evolution Purgatory" was released. Another label change followed to “Dockyard 1”. Furthermore, the second guitarist Daniel Sundbom was hired.
In the same period Carlsson and Norberg founded the side project Savage Circus , which was proposed by Thomen Stauch - ex-drummer of Blind Guardian . Stauch had targeted the band because he had left Blind Guardian due to their change of style.
On the third studio album, the band combined some Thrash and Black Metal influences in addition to the genres mentioned , but they did not try to make a brutal style change to the last album. In 2006, when Eden Burns finally appeared.
In October 2009 the band announced that they were working on a new album in the studio "Värdelös". They then kept a public studio diary in the form of a blog . In January 2014 the album "The Fiction Maze" was released. Carlsson and Norberg also left Savage Circus to concentrate on persuaders.
style
The band plays power metal with some influences from heavy and speed metal and reminiscent most strongly in the early albums of Blind Guardian . In terms of text, Persuader is based on topics such as fantasy and mythology , but also sings about other things in places.
