The Pes ( Russian Песь ) is a right tributary of the Chagodoschtscha in the Russian oblasts of Novgorod and Vologda .

The Pes has its origin in the 2.7 km² lake Rakitinskoje in the Valdai Heights in the Boksitogorski rajon in the east of Novgorod Oblast.

From there, the Pes flows in a predominantly eastward direction past the urban-type settlement Chwoinaja and reaches the Vologda Oblast. The Pes takes on the Ratza from the left 7 km above its mouth, in the urban-type Sasonowo settlement . The A114 trunk road then crosses the river . 3 km below the confluence with the Tschagodoschtscha (in the upper reaches also Tschagoda ) is the administrative center Tschagoda .

The Pes has a length of 145 km. It drains an area of 2730 km². The river is largely fed by the snowmelt . The river freezes in November / December. In April / beginning of May it is ice-free again. At least earlier, the pes was used for rafting .
