Peter Anton Feldscher (born March 1, 1889 in Masein ; † May 2, 1979 ibid) was a Swiss lawyer and diplomat .

Life

Feldscher attended primary school and grammar school in Chur and studied law in Zurich , Leipzig and Bern and received his doctorate in 1917 at the University of Bern . He then worked in the Federal Political Department (EPD) in the provisional department for representation of foreign interests and internment until 1919. Between 1919 and 1932 Feldscher worked first as a secretary and later as section head 2nd class in the Foreign Affairs Department at the EPD. In 1932 he was appointed section head of the Legal Office (today: Directorate for International Law FDFA) of the EPD. At the same time Feldscher was head of the emigration office. In 1938 Feldscher was promoted to head of the Political Section; he was thus also the deputy head of the foreign affairs department. During his time at the headquarters in Bern, Hans Frölicher and Pierre Bonna were among Feldscher's closest employees. From 1942 to 1945, as a Swiss minister, he headed the service for foreign interests at the embassy in Berlin , where he represented the British government's proposal to the German government that 5,000 Jews, mainly children, be allowed to leave the German sphere of influence ( Feldscher- Action ).

From 1946 he represented Switzerland in Austria and left this post on May 15, 1955.
