Peter Baumgartner (officer)
Peter Baumgartner (born December 16, 1965 ) is a Swiss professional officer ( brigadier ).
Life
Peter Baumgartner completed an apprenticeship as a farmer and advanced training as a technical businessman.
In 1990 he joined the infantry instruction corps in Herisau . From 2000 he was employed as a class teacher at the infantry officer school in Zurich and at the infantry training center in Walenstadt . After further training in 2003 and 2004 at the command academy of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg , he was group leader and staff coach at the General Staff School in Lucerne from 2005 to 2007 , then group leader at the military academy in Birmensdorf until 2010 . In 2010 he took command of the infantry recruit training and the weapons square Chur . In 2013 Baumgartner was Chief Training Officer of the Army Staff in Bern , in 2014 he completed a Master of Advanced Studies in Security Policy and Crisis Management at the ETH Zurich and in 2016 he was deployed as Chief of Staff of the Army Staff and from July 1, 2016 as the interim commander of the Mountain Infantry Brigade 12 .
On January 1, 2017, Baumgartner took over command of the Central School in addition to command of Mountain Infantry Brigade 12 while being promoted to brigadier at the same time . From 2021 Baumgartner will be in command of the Infantry Training Association, where he will replace Brigadier Franz Nager, who in turn will take over command of the central school.
