Peter Beat Wyrsch

Peter Beat Wyrsch (born April 13, 1946 in Stans ) is a Swiss theater director and artistic director.

After studying musicology in Basel and Erlangen , he worked as an assistant at the Theater Basel and at the Salzburg Easter Festival under Herbert von Karajan .

He was co-founder of the Nuremberg Pocket Opera Company and its director from 1974 to 2007. With this ensemble guest performances have taken him to Edinburgh , London , Milan , Florence , Mexico and New York City . After an engagement as senior director at the Ulm Theater , he switched to the opera management of the Munster Municipal Theaters in the 1996/1997 season , where he attracted international attention in particular with his productions of Richard Wagner's works . As a guest he has staged on various stages in Europe and overseas. He is considered an expert in contemporary music theater.

From 2007 to 2013 he was artistic director and opera director of the Biel Solothurn theater . In 2018 he was acting opera director at the Heidelberg Theater and Orchestra . Also in 2018 collaboration on the documentary "After the Storm - 1968 and the New Dawn in Central Switzerland" (film by Beat Bieri and Jörg Huwyler).
