Peter Berger (* 1959 in Weilburg ) is a German media consultant and author .

Life

Berger grew up in a middle-class family. The father was a customs officer in Wetzlar / Hessen , the mother a housekeeping manager. After high school and military service , Berger completed an apprenticeship as a state-certified diving instructor . This was followed by a traineeship at the "diving" editorial team at Jahr-Verlag KG.

On January 1, 1984 Berger switched to the "Bild-Zeitung" as a police reporter . The largest case that he handled journalistically was the arrest of Werner "Mucki" Pinzner , who became known as the "St. Pauli Killer" . Further journalistic positions followed with "Welt" , "Welt am Sonntag" (WamS) and "Berliner Kurier" . At WamS, Berger initially worked as a military correspondent and later as local manager for the editorial offices in Hamburg , Berlin and North Rhine-Westphalia . In 1999/2000 he was responsible for the production of the paper.

On January 1, 2000, Berger joined the founding team of "Financial Times Deutschland" around editor-in-chief Andrew Gowers . There he first set up the news department, then the online editorial team. Berger was appointed editor-in-chief Electronic Media at FTD.

Berger has been working as a freelance media consultant for publishers and administrations since 2002. His customers also include authorities who want to eradicate official German. Berger published several books and guides.
