Peter Bruch

Peter Bruch (born September 25, 1955 in Berlin ) is a former swimming athlete from the GDR .

Peter Bruch has been swimming for SC Dynamo Berlin since 1970 . In 1972 he qualified as the fourth swimmer for the four-by-100-meter freestyle relay. Together with Roland Matthes , Wilfried Hartung and Lutz Unger , he won the bronze medal at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , with the four-by-200-meter relay, he finished sixth. In 1973 Bruch took second place behind Roger Pyttel at the GDR championships over 100 meters and was third over 200 meters behind Roger Pyttel and Hartmut Flöckner , with the four-by-100-meter freestyle relay he won the championship in 1973. At the swimming world championships in 1973 he won bronze in the 100-meter freestyle relay together with Matthes, Pyttel and Flöckner as in 1972. In the next few years, Peter Bruch could not improve any further, the third place over 100 meters freestyle at the GDR championships in 1976 was not enough for another Olympic qualification.

After his sporting career, Bruch was the head of the swimming section at SC Dynamo Berlin as a qualified sports teacher.
