Wilfried Hartung (born August 16, 1953 in Berlin ) is a former swimming athlete from the GDR and has been a trainer at LSV Bremen since August 2017.

Hartung took part in the European Championships in Barcelona in 1970 and won the bronze medal behind the relays from the Federal Republic of Germany and the Soviet Union, over 400 , with the GDR 200-meter freestyle relay made up of Lutz Unger , Wilfried Hartung, Roland Matthes and Udo Poser Meter freestyle, he finished sixth. At the GDR championships in 1971 he finished second behind Wolfram Sperling over 400 meters , with the four-by-100-meter freestyle relay of TSC Berlin he won the GDR championship. After Hartung had taken second place behind Udo Poser at the GDR championships in 1972 over 200 meters, he was also part of the GDR Olympic team at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich . With the four-by-100-meter freestyle relay consisting of Roland Matthes, Wilfried Hartung, Peter Bruch and Lutz Unger, he won the bronze medal, with the four-by-200-meter relay he took sixth place.

At the GDR championships in 1973 , Hartung came second behind Roger Pyttel in the 400 meter freestyle relay, he won the championship title with the 200 meter freestyle relay, and at the 1973 swimming world championships he finished fourth with the 200 meter freestyle relay. The following year the 100-meter freestyle relay of TSC Berlin won the title at the GDR championships in 1974 , over 200 meters freestyle Hartung took second place behind Pyttel. At the 1974 European Swimming Championships, Hartung swam with Pyttel, Matthes and Lutz Wanja for the bronze medal in the four-by-100-meter freestyle relay. At the GDR championships in 1975 , Pyttel again won over 200 meters freestyle before Hartung. Wilfried Hartung and Hartmut Flöckner won all three championship titles with the relays of TSC Berlin. Hartung was also in the relay at the 1975 World Swimming Championships and finished fifth in the 100-meter freestyle relay. In 1976 Hartung was once again GDR champion with the 4 x 100 meter relay. At the 1976 Olympic Games , Hartung came fifth in the 200-meter freestyle relay.

In 1973 Hartung married the swimmer Gabriele Wetzko , from whom he was soon divorced. The trained car mechanic studied foreign trade during his career, but later worked in his apprenticeship.
