Peter Flisch

Peter Flisch (born December 7, 1886 in Thalkirch (municipality of Safiental ); † September 13, 1977 in Walzenhausen ; resident in Tschappina ) was a Swiss teacher , government councilor and national councilor from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Peter Flisch was a son of Johann Peter Flisch, carpenter , and Maria Barbara Gander. In 1908 he married Anna Barbara Obrecht, daughter of Alexander Buchli and the widow of Leonhard Obrecht. Despite the lack of a secondary school in Thalkirch, Flisch succeeded in entering the teachers' seminar in Chur . He worked as a primary school teacher in Flerden and from 1908 to 1932 in Walzenhausen.

He was a leading politician in the labor movement in Ausserrhoden. In 1917 he founded the Walzenhausen local section of the Social Democratic Party and in 1919 the cantonal union cartel . In 1932, Flisch became the political legacy of Howard Eugster . From 1932 to 1952 he was a councilor of the municipal and sanitary directorate. From 1932 to 1955 he was a member of the National Council. In addition to social and military issues, Flisch campaigned primarily for mountain farmers and the recognition of the Rhaeto-Romanic language in the federal parliament . He presided over the commission for the rehabilitation of mountain streams in Graubünden . He was a member of the Federal Military Commission. After the cantonal Social Democratic Party joined the Swiss Labor Party in 1944, Flisch set up a new social policy party in Appenzell Ausserrhoden.
